Your Ultimate Guide To Styling Butter Yellow This Spring/Summer 2025

Butter yellow is everywhere this Spring/Summer, and honestly? I’m absolutely in love with this color. It’s soft, sunny, and just the right amount of unexpected. Now, I get it. Butter yellow isn’t exactly a go-to color in most people’s closets. It can feel a little tricky to style, but once you get the hang of it, it’s so worth it. Here’s how we’re going to make it work.

Start simple: Pair butter yellow with white. It’s the easiest way to keep the look fresh, light, and polished. Just imagine white linen pants or a crisp white button-down with a buttery yellow top. It gives off a fresh, clean-slate kind of energy that’s calming. And on some mornings, that’s all we really need.

But if you really want to elevate the look? You’ve got to add some texture or contrast to balance out that soft, mellow vibe. Try mixing it with warm neutrals like beige, brown, or taupe.

Or go for deeper, richer tones—navy, grey, olive green, even burgundy

And for even more spice, pair it with animal prints or stripes.

Personally, I’m not a fan of pairing butter yellow with super bold colors like black, bright red, or royal blue. The contrast just feels a bit too loud and… almost … a little kitschy? What I would do, though, is swap the black for a dark shade of brown instead. And as for neon, it kind of steals the show—and butter yellow deserves to be the star.

1st Outfit

It’s a coastal but elegant outfit that works perfectly for an easy stroll in a European city along the coast. We have here a casual butter yellow short-sleeved t-shirt paired with an elegant pair of white dress pants. Along with this cow-girl, dark brown, suede belt which intensifies the look and matches the cow-girl sandal mules (both being very trendy this Spring/Summer 2025). And then to contrast with the butter yellow, we’re adding a bright purple bag – purple being the opposite shade of yellow – for a fun pop of color!

2nd Outfit

This outfit is perfect for a day shopping or a lunch date with your friends: it’s comfortable yet feminine and put together! This outfit features a cozy suede mini skirt with an even cozy-er butter yellow knit sweater. I’m pairing this with a pair of sambas for maximum comfort and we like them deep green for more character. I’m accesorizing with jewelry for a subtle touch of femininity: like these emerald hoop earrings – that pick up the green from the sambas – as well as a dark brown bangle cuff bracelet for definition. And then this gorgeous white handbag acting as a breath of fresh air.

3rd Outfit

A casual-edgy outfit for your day-to-day life – you may be picking up your nephew from school and taking him for ice cream right after: You’re wearing this knit butter yellow cardigan over a white tank top. We’re twisting it with edgy grey jeans and chunky grey sneakers for a relaxed look. You’re styling it with a burgundy handbag and belt to give it more some elegant drama. And of course a romantic, organic pendant necklace to bring light.

4th Outfit

You’re going to an event or an important meeting and you want an elegant outfit but you’re not in the mood for an all black tough outfit? Well I recommend this Butter yellow tank top with this white blazer that pairs really well with the romantic innocence of this white silk skirt with a delicate lace hem detail. To this, I’m adding a deep caramel handbag to bring definition. The seductiveness of these animal print slingback pumps contrast well with the serious workwear blazer. Lastly, for a little bit of playfulness, you’re wearing this triple charm link chain necklace.

So in a nutshell, butter yellow is a soft, innocent shade that looks best with either white – for a clean and peaceful look – or with more elegant and bold pieces that add character or sensuality. We are laways looking for ways to play around with colors and butter yellow is a beautiful, trendy shade to use in our outfits – and most importantly to have fun with!
